A notice of petition is a formal notice that lets a respondent know that legal process against the person is started. After receiving a notice of petition the respondent can expect a summons from the court. The notice of petition provides respondent a time to prepare for the future legal proceedings. The notice of petition can be delivered through mail or by hand.
