Nursing Home Law and Legal Definition
A nursing home is a place of residence for people who suffer from physical or mental disabilities, and who require constant nursing care to perform their daily living activities such as taking a bath, getting dressed and going to the bathroom. Persons who cannot be cared at home and who do not require a hospitalization is taken to nursing homes. A skilled nursing home even provides physical, occupational, and other rehabilitative therapies following an accident or illness. Nursing home services include services of: nurses, nursing aides and assistants; physical, occupational and speech therapists; and service of social workers and recreational assistants.
A nursing home is also called as convalescent home, skilled nursing unit (SNU), care home or rest home.
