Oath of Abjuration Law and Legal Definition
Oath of abjuration means an oath by one renounces allegiance. It is usually taken by the members of the parliament, clergy, and laymen to renounce all right of descendants of a pretender to the Crown. The oath of abjuration was later superseded by the oath of allegiance.
