Office for Victims of Crime [OVC] Law and Legal Definition
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is an agency working under the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide aid and promote justice for crime victims. The OVC is one of seven components within the Office of Justice Programs of the DOJ. The agency is committed to enhance the Nation’s capacity to assist crime victims and to providing leadership in changing attitudes, policies, and practices to promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. The OVC acts as the voice of victims in government by helping to ensure that federal and state victim’s services are effectively coordinated and meet the needs of diverse population.
