Office of Buildings and Acquisitions [L/BA] [Department of State] Law and Legal Definition
The Office of Buildings and Acquisitions (Office) is a functional bureau of the U.S. Department of State. The Office of the Legal Advisor provides support to the Office in the performance of its functions and responsibilities. The Office provides legal advice on the following matters:
solicitation, award, and administration of Federal acquisition contracts;
acquisition and development of real property abroad;
negotiation and litigation of contract disputes;
defense of bid protests at the General Accounting Office;
management of Government property domestically and abroad;
drafting and interpretation of Federal acquisition laws, regulations and policies;
oversight and administration of employee associations at posts abroad;
grant and cooperative agreement law, regulations, policies and administration.
