Office of Economic Policy Analysis and Public Diplomacy [EEB/EPPD] [Department of State] Law and Legal Definition
The Office of Economic Policy Analysis and Public Diplomacy is one of seven issue-oriented organizations within the Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. EPPD analyzes the effectiveness of current U.S. policies, engages the private sector in policy planning and development, and evaluates economic and foreign policy implications of emerging, cross-cutting issues. Through all these activities EPPD works to develop and promote sound economic policies in U.S. In addition, EPPD supports and promotes U.S economic policies through public diplomacy and public affairs efforts including sustained outreach to media, other government entities, non-governmental organizations, business and civic groups, and educational institutions. Further, EPPD also promotes effective cooperation with Members of Congress and their staff regarding international economic issues.
EPPD renders policy support for the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the OECD-based Partnership for Democratic Governance (PDG). EPPD also supervises the Secretary’s Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) and serves as Executive Secretariat for the Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy (ACIEP).
