Office of Hearings and Appeals [HUD] Law and Legal Definition
The Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is an independent adjudicatory office within the Office of the Secretary whose administrative judges. The administrative law judges conduct hearings and make determinations for the HUD in accordance with existing statutes and Departmental policies, regulations, and procedures. The Director of OHA supervises the administrative judges of the Office of Appeals, the administrative law judges of the Office of Administrative Law Judges, and OHA support staff.
The Secretary is entitled to delegate any matter in controversy to the OHA requiring findings of fact and conclusions of law, and such other quasi-judicial matters that the Secretary deems appropriate consistent with existing regulations.
