Office of Intergovernmental and Public Liaison [Department of Justice] Law and Legal Definition
The Office of Intergovernmental and Public Liaison (OIPL) is a part of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) general administration structure and one of the five leadership support offices at the department. The OIPL houses the other leadership with tribal, state, and local governments and support offices of the department, including the office of the Attorney General.
The mission of OIPL includes the following:
a. to coordinate the Attorney General’s and other leadership officials’ relationships with state and local government and the interest groups that represent them;
c .to provide advice on strategic planning of the Attorney General’s public appearances;
d. to perform speech writing duties for the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General as needed;
e. to provide event planning and consulting services to the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General; and
f. to advise and assist, as required, the White House on these same issues.
