Office of Public and Indian Housing Law and Legal Definition
The Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) is a unit in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This Office is responsible for providing technical assistance and operating subsidies to public-housing agencies and Indian housing authorities in developing low-income housing. The purpose of PIH is to ensure safe and affordable housing, create opportunities for residents’ self-sufficiency and economic independence. It also assures the fiscal integrity of all participants of the program.
