Official English Movement Law and Legal Definition
Official English movement refers to a political movement initiated for the use only of the English language in official government operations through the establishing of English as the only official language in the U.S.
The U.S. currently has no official language, but local legislation has made English official in a majority of states. English-only rules may create an atmosphere of inferiority, isolation and intimidation based on national origin which could result in a discriminatory working environment.
