Offsite Disposal [Energy] Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 765.3 [Title 10 Energy; Chapter III Department of Energy; Part 765 Reimbursement for Costs of Remedial Action at Active Uranium and Thorium Processing Sites; Subpart A -- General], offsite disposal means “the disposal, and activities that contribute to the disposal, of byproduct material in a location that is not contiguous to the West Chicago Thorium Mill Site located in West Chicago, Illinois, in accordance with a plan approved by, or other written authorization from, the State of Illinois or NRC provided the activities are consistent with the ultimate removal of byproduct material from the West Chicago Thorium Mill Site.”
