Open Season (Health Care) Law and Legal Definition
An open season refers to the period during which a beneficiary gets an opportunity to evaluate his/her insurance needs for the coming year and make changes to the health insurance plan. During this period a beneficiary can examine and make changes in the health, dental, and vision insurance plans to meet their needs. Individuals who are eligible for the federal employees health benefits (FEHB) program, federal employees dental and vision insurance program (FEDVIP) and the federal flexible spending account program (FSAFEDS) can enroll, or if already enrolled, can change their enrollment during the open season.
