Ordinal numbers are the words representing the rank of a number with respect to some order. In the U.S., the grades are provided as ordinal numbers between first, and twelfth. Generally, its use refers to size, importance, and chronology. Ordinal numbers are adjectives. It is different from cardinal numbers that refer quantity.
