Original Classification Authority Law and Legal Definition
Pursuant to 49 CFR 8.5 [Title 49 – Transportation, Subtitle A -- Office of the Secretary of Transportation], the term original classification authority means “an individual authorized in writing, either by the President or by agency heads or other officials designated by the President, to classify information in the first instance.”
