Out-of-State Claimant Law and Legal Definition
An out-of-state claimant is a claimant who resides outside the place where the hearing is conducted. An out-of-state claimant can appear at a hearing by sending an authorized representative to appear at a scheduled hearing or s/he can participate in a telephone hearing upon request. Earlier, hearings for out-of-state claimants were conducted through questionnaire method. However, now-a-days questionnaire hearings are not provided, except in certain situations.
