Owe Law and Legal Definition
Owe means to be legally indebted or to be under a political, moral, or social obligation. For instance, children owe alimony to their father and mother and other ascendants who are in need. The word owe implies a debt imposed upon them by law in that respect, for the satisfaction of which a civil action lies. [Succession of Guidry, 40 La. Ann. 671, 673 (La. 1888)].
