Oxidizing Adulterant Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 26.5 [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 26 -- Fitness For Duty Programs; Subpart A -- Administrative Provisions], the term oxidizing adulterant means “a substance that acts alone or in combination with other substances to oxidize drugs or drug metabolites to prevent the detection of the drugs or drug metabolites, or a substance that affects the reagents in either the initial or confirmatory drug test. Examples of these agents include, but are not limited to, nitrites, pyridinium chlorochromate, chromium (VI), bleach, iodine/iodide, halogens, peroxidase, and peroxide.”
