Oyez Law and Legal Definition
Oyez is a French term which means hear ye. It is a call for silence or a call for attention made in some courts by the public crier. Oyez is usually cried out in three times and is used to call the court room to order when a session begins or to indicate that a proclamation is about to be made and to command attention to it.
