Random Selection Method Law and Legal Definition
Random selection method is a method used by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to determine the tax returns for audit every year. In the random selection method certain numbers of tax returns are picked at random for audit. Generally, a computer generated number is allotted to all tax returns that are collected in random. Tax returns with high Differential Income Factor (DIF) scores and non-matched information are taken out in random for audit.
