Re-direct Examination Law and Legal Definition
Re-direct examination is a trial process by which the attorney who offered the witness has a chance to explain any damaging or accusing testimony brought out by the opponent during cross-examination. The questions are asked by the attorney who conducted the direct examination of the witness. Redirect examination follows cross-examination. Re-direct examination can only question the areas brought out on cross-examination and cannot stray beyond that boundary.
