Receipting for Property Law and Legal Definition
Receipting for property is a practice wherein the lien of an attachment or execution is continued in force without the necessity of continued physical custody of the property by the officer who served the writ. Such a practice is accomplished by delivering the property to a third person who gives his/her receipt to the officer and becomes responsible for the safekeeping of the property during the pendency of the action.
