Reception and Placement [Refugee] Law and Legal Definition
Reception and Placement refers to the initial resettlement process and period during which a Voluntary Resettlement Agency or other sponsor under an agreement with the U.S. Department of State is responsible for assisting a refugee.
The Reception and Placement (R&P) Program for the initial reception and placement of refugees in the U. S. is managed by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the Department of State. The purpose of the R&P Program is to promote the successful reception and placement of all persons who are admitted to the U.S. under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
