Reconciliation [Energy] Law and Legal Definition

According to 10 CFR 74.4 [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 74 -- Material Control and Accounting of Special Nuclear Material; Subpart A -- General Provisions], the term reconciliation means “the process of evaluating and comparing licensee reports required under this part to the projected material balances generated by the Nuclear Materials Management and Safeguards System. This process is considered complete when the licensee resolves any differences between the reported and projected balances, including those listed for foreign obligated materials.”
