Remanet Law and Legal Definition
Remanet is a Latin term which refers to an action that has been put over or deferred to a later time. This may happen due the court running out of time to hear all the cases on its list. In the jurisdictions using this term, the courts maintain a formal list of such cases, called a remanet list. The remanet list is a variation of a judicial ‘to-do’ list, representing cases which are still pending but which have not been set down to a specific date.
In criminal law, the term is often used to refer to the time remaining to be served on a particular sentence. For example, a remanet of seven and a half months must be served by the convict.
