Reopening Law and Legal Definition
Reopening can either be the reopening of a hearing request or the reopening of a hearing record. A claimant shall request to reopen a hearing request after a non-appearance or a withdrawal. If the request is granted, then the matter will be reopened and scheduled for a hearing.
Similarly, a judge can also reopen the record after a hearing to receive additional evidence. Reopening the record will permit hearing parties to provide additional evidence after a hearing, but before preparing a decision.
