Rivers and Harbors Act Law and Legal Definition
The Rivers and Harbors Act enacted in 1965 authorize the U.S Corps of Engineers to design and construct numerous navigation and beach erosion projects. The Act specifically states that permission is required in case of any excavation or dredging or deposition of material in the water or any obstruction or alteration in navigable water is required.
