Rule in Aerocide Law and Legal Definition
Rule in Aerocide is a Canadian legal principle applicable in employment law. According to this principle an employer is limited to justifying its action in dismissing an employee to the grounds it put forward at the time of discharge. It holds an employer to the reasons for a dismissal expressed at the time of dismissal, and prohibits any attempt to later advance other reasons. The standard was set in the 1965 Ontario case USWA v Aerocide Dispensers Ltd.
