Runway Clear Zones and Clear Zones [HUD] Law and Legal Definition
Pursuant to 24 CFR 51.301 (d) [Title 24 Housing and Urban Development; Subtitle A Office of the Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development; Part 51 Environmental Criteria and Standards; Subpart D Siting of HUD Assisted Projects in Runway Clear Zones at Civil Airports and Clear Zones and Accident Potential Zones at Military Airfields], the term Runway Clear Zones and Clear Zones mean “areas immediately beyond the ends of a runway. The standards for Runway Clear Zones for civil airports are established by FAA regulation 14 CFR part 152. The standards for Clear Zones for military airfields are established by DOD Instruction 4165.57, 32 CFR part 256.”
