Rural Utilities Service [RUS] Law and Legal Definition
Rural Utilities Service (RUS) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). RUS is one of the federal executive departments of the U.S. government charged with providing public utilities such as electricity, telephone, water, sewer to rural areas in the U.S. by means of public-private partnerships. The agency's acronym is a reference to the Latin word rus which means ‘countryside.’
