Tertium Quid Law and Legal Definition
Tertium quid means something that cannot be classified into either of two groups considered exhaustive. It can be considered as an intermediate thing or factor. The term also means a third person or a thing of intermediate nature. A thing or factor that is similar to two things but distinctive of both is tertium quid. Something intermediate between two classifications is also refered to as a tertium quid.
