Theatrical Engagement Law and Legal Definition
Theatrical engagement is referred to an employment for performers or performing groups that lasts for a specified or limited period of time. Performance will usually be related to a drama or play in a theatre.
Following is an example of a state statute (California) [Cal Lab Code § 1700.1.(a)] defining the term ‘theatrical engagement’:
"Theatrical engagement" means any engagement or employment of a person as an actor, performer, or entertainer in a circus, vaudeville, theatrical, or other entertainment, exhibition, or performance.
