Theft-Bote Law and Legal Definition
Theft-bote is an act of accepting payment from a thief in exchange of an agreement not to prosecute. In theft-bote payment is accepted either in the form of bribe or through the return of stolen goods. Theft-bote leads to compounding a crime and thus such act itself is considered as a criminal offence as the act defrauds justice. A person committing the offence of theft-bote is punishable with both fine and imprisonment.
