Third Freedom of the Air Law and Legal Definition
Third freedom of the air refers to the right of state to fly from one's own country to another country. It is the freedom to carry traffic from a home country to another country for purpose of commercial services.
Third freedom of the air is considered as the first commercial freedom of the air. One state grants another state the right or privilege, in respect of scheduled international air services, to put down, in the territory of the first state, traffic coming from the home state of the carrier. It is also known as a third freedom right.
