Third Party Actions Law and Legal Definition
A third party action refers to a lawsuit brought against persons whose negligence or gross negligence has facilitated the commission of a tort by a defendant. In civil law, it is another name for the procedural device of impleader. Third party suits are used by a defendant who wants to bring a third party into a lawsuit because that party will ultimately be liable for all, or part of, the damages that may be awarded to the plaintiff.
