Tolerance (Environmental Law) Law and Legal Definition
Tolerance is the permissible residue level for pesticides in raw agricultural produce and processed foods. A tolerance has to be established whenever a pesticide is registered for use on a food or feed crop. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) establishes the tolerance levels, which are enforced by the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture.
