Tools of Trade Law and Legal Definition
Tools of trade are the type and amount of instruments, tools, equipment, devices and machinery as would be usually used in the normal course and scope of a person's profession, trade or occupation without the use of additional labor.
Tools of trade are exempt from the claims of creditors under bankruptcy law. They are also generally exempt from attachment by judgment creditors since it is important for a person to earn an income to support the family and pay creditors.
