Toxicology Screen Law and Legal Definition
A toxicology screen refers to various tests that are done to determine the type and approximate amount of legal and illegal drugs a person has taken. This test is usually done in emergency medical situations and can be used to evaluate possible accidental or intentional overdose or poisoning. It also helps in determining the causes of drug toxicity, monitoring drug dependency, and determining the presence of substances in the body for medical or legal purposes. Toxicology screening is usually done using a blood or urine sample. However, it may also be done using stomach contents if it is soon after swallowing the medication.
